iOS 10 Jailbreak Released – Yalu

Written by

As promised earlier, well-known hacker and security researcher Luca Todesco was supposed to release the jailbreak for iOS 10. Now he just released the iOS 10.1 and iOS 10.1.1 jailbreak beta. Don’t start jumping with joy yet because this Jailbreak currently supports limited devices.

iOS 10.1.(1) jailbreak released – Yalu

Please be noted that currently this for jailbreak developers, so you should stay away from it for the time being. Todesco has categorically stated that it is glitchy and very unstable so it is not meant for the general public at the moment. You may end up losing iOS 10.1 or iOS 10.1 and be forced to upgrade to iOS 10.2.

A few days back, Todesco had announced plans to release the iOS 10.1.1 jailbreak based on the kernel and root exploit for iOS 10.1.1 published by Ian Beer from Google’s Project Zero team. A few days back we suggested you save your SHSH for the iOS 10.1.1 so that later on you can downgrade back to it and enjoy jailbreak on this version.

Todesco has also mentioned that mobile substrate has been purposely broken so most of the jailbreak tweaks won’t be working. Unlike other jailbreak tools, the beta version isn’t a GUI-based tool, it is available as a Xcode project.

The first beta currently supports iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, 9.7-inch iPad Pro and 12.9-inch iPad Pro. Todesco plans to add support for other 64-bit iOS 10.1.1 compatible devices later.

If you’re a jailbreak developer, then you can try the iOS 10.1.1 jailbreak by visiting This makes it the first jailbreak to be released for iOS 10 and also iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.

Todesco has also revealed that the jailbreak is not an untethered jailbreak, which means that you will need to re-jailbreak your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch if you reboot it.

We would strongly recommend staying away from the jailbreak for now. As we reported a short while back, iOS 10.2 jailbreak may also be released soon. After a relatively long period of lull, it is great to see frantic activity in the jailbreak community.

Kudos to Todesco for releasing the jailbreak even after all the hate he has received from the jailbreak community.

Update 1:

It looks like people had problems with the initial version. Todesco has released the third beta version of iOS 10.1.1 jailbreak.

Update 2:

Now you can side load the IPA file using Cydia Impactor when it is updated. So you won’t need Xcode.

Stay tuned for more updates. if you don’t want jailbreak, its not safe for you then you can update to iOS 10.2.1 beta also by registering your iPhone to Apple Developer Account >
