Apple is finishing making their ‘spaceship’ campus

Written by
Apple’s spaceship Campus 2 is expected to open sometime next year, so its no surprise that work at the site is going on in full swing. A video captured through a drone shot by Matthew Roberts provides us with an update on how the work at the site is progressing.

The video shows that work at the underground auditorium in the spaceship is progressing rapidly. Once the campus opens, this auditorium — which has a seating capacity of 1,000 — will become the place where all the official product unveiling from the company will take place. It is significantly bigger than the various auditoriums that Apple has hosted its launch events in.

The video shows that the ‘spaceship’ framework is almost complete, with the last structure being framed at the time the video was shot. The gigantic 100,000 square foot (!) fitness centre building is also shown in the video, and so is the R&D centre. Since the whole spaceship campus will run on 100 percent renewable energy, its not surprising to see the roofs of the whole campus filled with solar panels.

Noticed the huge pile of dirt at the construction site? That’s there because Apple’s revised its plan for the spaceship to ensure that it does not have to remove any dirt from the site.
