Apple’s rumored wearable device popularly known as the iWatch. It looks like the iWatch, which is expected to run a version of iOS will allow users to install third-party apps as 9to5Mac claims that Apple has seeded the software development kit (SDK) for its wearable device to a small number of prominent developers. So you can use 3rd party apps in your iwatch.
A small handful of high-profile social network and services companies with apps on the iPhone and iPad App Store have already been seeded with a pre-release version of the Apple SDK (Software Development Kit) for wearables under strict non-disclosure agreements.
The SDK was seeded “very recently” to these developers, and Apple likely wants to demonstrate some third-party wearable apps at Tuesday’s event, according to one source.
Reports suggest that though the iWatch will be unveiled at the special media event on September 9, it may not go on sale until 2015, partly because Apple wants to give app developers, and manufacturers of health and fitness equipment to develop apps for the wearable device.
The iWatch is expected to include a number of sensors for health and fitness tracking and few more new addons. It is also expected to work with the iPhone 6, we are yet not sure if the iWatch will be compatable with the older iPhones like iPhone 5s/5c/5/4, iPads and iPods and will come with NFC technology for Apple’s mobile payments solution and pairing it with the new iPhones. Something very big and interesting is cooking…. wait for the September 9 event. 😉 And keep expectations high because its gonna be really great as till now the features we have seen in ios 8 and yosemite. So we can assume that iWatch will bring us more cool changes and beat the other compititiors like moto360 watch, galaxy’s wearables etc.
An App Store for the iWatch is certainly great news. It’s one of the features that I had mentioned in my iWatch wishlist, as developers could come up with innovative ways to use it like they’ve so successfully done for the iPhone and iPad, and popular fitness and tracking apps such as Runtastic, MapMyRide etc. can offer companion apps so we don’t have to take out our iPhones to check the progress. I am waiting for the iWatch. Gonna be really exciting.
